La trilogia “War of Lost Hearts” è una trilogia fantasy romance scritta e autoprodotta da Carissa Broadbent.

Al momento è disponibile soltanto in inglese; tuttavia, dal momento che la sua serie “Crown of Nyaxia” è da poco stata acquistata da una casa editrice che la sta distribuendo in tutto il mondo, credo che ci siano buone speranze di vederla un giorno anche in italiano.

La trilogia è composta dai volumi “Daughter of No Worlds”, “Children of Fallen Gods” e “Mother of Death and Dawn”.

Tisaanah ha vissuto tutta la vita in schiavitù, sopravvivendo solo grazie alla magia che possiede; tuttavia, quando cerca di comprare la promessa libertà, finisce con l’uccidere accidentalmente il suo padrone e a dover fuggire in esilio. Dopo aver chiesto asilo agli Ordini, l’organizzazione che dovrebbe proteggere chi possiede la magia, si ritrova come tutore Maxantarius Farlione, un nobile decaduto che detesta gli Ordini.
Tra macchinazioni politiche e una guerra all’orizzone, i due dovranno compiere scelte difficili e diventare armi senza perdere la propria umanità.

La trilogia costituisce un’avventura epica, intrisa di magia, intrighi e una love story avvincente. In questo mondo ricco di dettagli e sfumature, l’autrice ci trasporta in una lotta tra il bene e il male, in cui i confini tra eroi e antagonisti si fanno sfumati e i colpi di scena non mancano mai.

Senza svelare troppo, posso dire che la trama è avvincente, ricca di suspense e sorprese che tengono il lettore incollato alle pagine.

Uno degli aspetti che ho apprezzato maggiormente di questa trilogia è stata la caratterizzazione dei personaggi. Nessuno è completamente buono o cattivo, e anche gli antagonisti hanno le loro ragioni e le loro storie che li guidano. Questo rende il mondo di “War of the Lost Hearts” profondamente realistico e coinvolgente, poiché ci si ritrova a comprendere le motivazioni di ogni personaggio.

Inoltre, Tisaanah è una straniera nel paese in cui avviene la maggior parte della storia, e il modo in cui sono state rese le differenze culturali e il suo progressivo padroneggiare della lingua mi sono piaciuti molto.

In particolare, il love interest, Max, è un personaggio ben sviluppato e genuinamente desiderabile. È un’eccezione rispetto ai tipici prepotenti spesso presenti nei romanzi di genere fantasy romance. La relazione che si sviluppa tra i protagonisti è autentica, intensa e piena di emozioni, rendendola una delle componenti più apprezzabili di questa saga.

Non posso però dire chi sia il mio personaggio preferito perché la sua identità costituisce il colpo di scena del secondo volume però… posso solo dire che è una figura davvero memorabile.

Consiglio vivamente la trilogia “War of Lost Hearts” a tutti i lettori appassionati di saghe fantasy che desiderano immergersi in un mondo ricco di intrighi, colpi di scena e una love story coinvolgente, nello stile del “Trono di Ghiaccio” di Sarah J Maas.c

Tisaanah has lived all her life in slavery, surviving only thanks to the magic she possesses; however, when she tries to buy her promised freedom, she ends up accidentally killing her master and having to flee into exile. After seeking asylum with the Orders, the organisation that is supposed to protect those who possess magic, he finds himself as guardian Maxantarius Farlione, a fallen nobleman who detests the Orders.

Amid political machinations and a war on the horizon, the two must make difficult choices and become weapons without losing their humanity.

The trilogy is an epic adventure, steeped in magic, intrigue and a gripping love story. In this richly detailed and nuanced world, the author transports us into a struggle between good and evil, where the boundaries between heroes and antagonists become blurred and the twists and turns are never lacking.

Without revealing too much, I can say that the plot is gripping, full of suspense and surprises that keep the reader glued to the pages. One of the aspects I appreciated most about this trilogy was the characterisation of the characters. No one is completely good or bad, and even the antagonists have their own motives and stories that drive them. This makes the world of ‘War of the Lost Hearts’ deeply realistic and engaging, as one finds oneself understanding the motivations of each character.

In addition, Tisaanah is a foreigner in the country where most of the story takes place, and I appreciated the way the cultural differences were rendered, as her gradual mastering of the language.

In particular, the love interest, Max, is a well-developed and genuinely desirable character. He is an exception to the typical bullies often found in fantasy romance novels. The relationship that develops between the protagonists is authentic, intense and full of emotion, making it one of the most enjoyable components of this saga.

I cannot, however, say who my favourite character is because their identity constitutes the twist of the second volume, however… I can only say that they are a truly memorable figure.

I highly recommend the “War of Lost Hearts” trilogy to all readers who are fans of fantasy sagas and wish to immerse themselves in a world full of intrigue, twists and turns, and an enthralling love story, in the style of Sarah J Maas’s “Throne of Glass”.
