“Bridgerton” è una serie tv disponibile in streaming su Netflix, creata da Chris Van Dunsen e prodotta da Shonda Rhimes, la celebre creatrice di Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal e Le Regole del Delitto Perfetto.
La serie è basata sui romanzi di Julia Quinn, il cui secondo volume è “Il Visconte che mi amava”, editi in italiano da Mondadori.
Un anno dopo gli eventi della prima stagione, la famiglia Bridgerton è di nuovo alle prese con la stagione mondana londinese: questa volta è il primogenito Anthony, erede del titolo di visconte, a cercare moglie. Questi è sicuro di non desiderare un’unione d’amore ma vuole semplicemente scegliere la persona più idonea a ricoprire la carica di viscontessa.
Parallelamente arrivano a Londra dall’India le sorelle Kate (di ben ventisei anni e dal carattere deciso e spigoloso) e la dolce Edwina Sharma, insieme alla madre Mary, che anni prima era stata ostracizzata dalla buona società inglese per aver sposato un impiegato indiano (già padre di Kate). È imperativo che Edwina contragga un buon matrimonio per avere accesso all’eredità negata alla madre.
Edwina viene scelta dalla Regina come “diamante” della stagione e Anthony decide immediatamente che deve essere la persona più adatta alle sue esigenze; tuttavia lui e Kate scoprono di essere irresistibilmente attratti l’uno dall’altra.
Questa stagione è anche migliore della precedente, più che altro perché ci sono degli effettivi ostacoli all’unione dei due protagonisti e fino alla fine ci si chiede come la risolveranno.
La serie è coinvolgente e piena di personaggi memorabili: accanto alla famiglia Bridgerton vediamo anche la vedova Featherington con le sue figlie, e confesso che la sua storyline è una di quelle che ho preferito.
I due protagonisti sono bravi a trasmettere l’intesa e l’attrazione tra Kate e Anthony: rispetto alla stagione precedente ci sono meno scene di passione, ma c’è molta più enfasi sulla tensione sessuale tra i due personaggi, il che ovviamente tiene lo spettatore più sulle spine.
In conclusione, secondo me questa serie è imperdibile per gli amanti del romance leggero e avvincente, perfetta per il “binge-watching” di un episodio dietro l’altro.

A year after the events of the first season, the Bridgerton family is once again dealing with London’s season: this time it is the eldest son Anthony, heir to the title of Viscount, who is looking for a wife. He is sure that he does not want a love match but simply to choose the most suitable person to cover the position of Viscountess.
At the same time, the sisters Kate (who is twenty-six years old and has a strong, difficult personality) and sweet Edwina Sharma arrive in London from India, together with their mother Mary, who years earlier had been ostracised by English society for marrying an Indian clerk (already Kate’s father). It is imperative that Edwina has a good marriage to gain access to the inheritance denied to her mother.
Edwina is chosen by the Queen as the ‘diamond’ of the season and Anthony immediately decides that she must be the best person he’s looking for; however, he and Kate discover that they are irresistibly attracted to each other.
This season is even better than the previous one, more so because there are actual obstacles to the union of the two protagonists and until the end one wonders how they will solve it.
The series is engaging and full of memorable characters: alongside the Bridgerton family we also see the widow Featherington with her daughters, and I confess that her storyline is one of my favourites.
The two leads are good at conveying the chemistry and attraction between Kate and Anthony: compared to the previous season there are fewer scenes of passion, but there is much more emphasis on the sexual tension between the two characters, which obviously keeps the viewer on their toes.
In conclusion, in my opinion this series is a must-see for lovers of light-hearted, compelling romance, perfect for binge-watching one episode after another.
